Product Details

Wholesale pecten nobilis scallop shell halves measuring approximately 1-3/4 inches to 2-1/2 inches are sold by the gallon. These are from the family Pectinidae. These pretty pecten shells come in assorted colors and each bag will vary slightly in color.  They are a popular shell with shell crafters as they add a pretty accent to shell baskets, shell mirrors, shell ornaments, shell wreaths and look great in seashell bathroom decor. Scallop shells have figured prominently in shell art, architecture and religion from ancient times to the present. Scallop shells even became a symbol of renewed life. The scallop became a symbol of Christianity from the very beginning. The apostle James was a fisherman, and a group of his followers gave him a gift scallop as a representation of his profession. St. James was thereafter strongly associated with the scallop.

Our shells are commercial grade. All seashells sold in bulk, by the gallon and by the kilo will contain some unusable shells and there will be a little gravel in the bags!
